Judith Laurie Graphite Pencil Drawings About Me and My Drawings I live in Richmond B.C. - a stone's throw from Vancouver. Except for three courses in pencil drawing taken at Kwantlem College, I have no formal art training. I do have a B.Sc. in Computer Science, and I enjoy developing websites and specifying user interfaces for applications. This allows me to exercise both my formal training and my creativity. See Preceptor Software Services. I enjoy nature, especially birds, and I love open space. I am too scientific to be only an artist, too creative to be only a computer scientist, and too sensitive to remain untouched by everything around me. Each of the drawings on this site was rendered using graphite pencils, ranging from 2H to 9B. I am often asked how long it takes to complete a drawing. The bigger or more intricate the rendering the longer it takes. Burchell's Zebra, a commissioned work, took 260 hours to complete - more than any of my other drawings. Judith Laurie is my maiden name. I use it for my art because nobody can pronounce or remember my married surname. Try pronouncing 'Judy van Aswegen' correctly!" Contact Me Feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about my drawings or if you would like to purchase a drawing. (Sorry, I'm not accepting commissions at this time.
